Women don’t get bulky with resistance training

It is less prevalent nowadays, but most women used to think that lifting weights would make them bulky, and many of you still do.

This way of thinking is inaccurate. Resistance training isn’t to blame for putting on bulk.

There are so many factors that determine how much “bulk” you put on; testosterone levels, body types, nutrition, training program etc. Take your training program for example. What’s important is understanding what each of your workouts does for you and how it affects your body-shape. FIRE sessions (weights sessions) provide an effective stimulus on your targeted muscles to help them to achieve lean growth. ICE sessions (cardio sessions) make the body work out of its comfort zone, performing exercises that it isn’t good at, to burn fat. Combine these two workout types with Metabolic Nutrition and you will achieve steady, lean muscle growth, while losing body fat – pretty much what most training individuals are looking for.

When do you look bulky then?

When your body has built muscle mass but has lost little to no fat. Take a step back and look at both your nutrition and training. Are you performing the right exercise to burn fat? Is your nutrition up to scratch to create the right metabolic environment for your body? Make necessary changes if you need to and you’ll see your body change in the way that you want it to.
